Mia Villeta Alvarado
Mia Villeta Alvarado was a candidate for the Trustee Area 1 seat on the Alvord Unified School District Board of Education in California. She ran against incumbent Art Kaspereen Jr. in the general election on November 4, 2014.[1] Mia Villeta Alvarado lost the general election on November 4, 2014.

Three seats on the Alvord Unified School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. Incumbent Art Kaspereen Jr. ran against challenger Mia Villeta Alvarado for the Trustee Area 1 seat, and incumbent Greg Kraft ran against challenger Robert Schwandt for the Trustee Area 4 seat. Incumbent José Luis Pérez did not file for re-election, leaving the Trustee Area 3 race to two candidates, Donna K. Wandro and Julie Moreno.
Kaspereen was successful in his bid for re-election, defeating Alvarado for Trustee Area 1. Moreno came out on top in the Trustee Area 3 race, and Schwandt defeated incumbent Kraft for Trustee Area 4.
This was the first election in which board members were elected by district. It was also the first time elections were held during an even-numbered year.

Alvarado received the endorsement of the community organization Evolve.[3]
