July 9, 2010
Miami, Florida: Judge Alan Gold has decided to retire from the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida in January of 2011, although he will continue to hear cases as a judge with "senior status". The 66-year-old judge has served on this court since 1997, when he was appointed by President Clinton. He has presided over a number of prominent cases and his position is expected to be highly sought-after by judicial hopefuls.[1]
