|- Freedom and Justice
Individual Freedom - All U.S. Citizens are entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Women and the LGBTQ community should have freedom over their own bodies.
Freedom and Justice must include the right to vote. - Education and Economy Public Education is guaranteed by the Kansas Constitution and must be supported. Education leads to opportunities for economic prosperity. I do not support school vouchers. I don't support banning books, because it limits free speech.
- Medicaid Expansion makes "uncommonly good sense." 1. Offers affordable healthcare for 150,000 Kansans, including 7400 Veterans. 2. Creates jobs and boosts the economy by keeping some of our federal tax dollars in state. 3. Supports rural hospitals and healthcare throughout Kansans 4. Offers a dose of compassion from the state to its citizens. It's time for some "uncommonly good sense."
Legalizing marijuana - Over 70% favor legalizing marijuana for both medicinal and recreational use. Legalizing marijuana creates a cash crop, a tax base, medical care, and will lower the incarcerated population.
Any book or movie that speaks the "truth" about history, freedom and social justice would help them understand me. For social justice, "Shirley" was the most recent movie I watched, but I have enjoyed many others like "Hidden Figures," "Harriet."
"Knowledge" - I know my District and its people. I grew up here.
"Knowing the issues" - As a Pastor I have known the issues of Kansans and seen first hand what is not being addressed for our people.
"Consensus-building" - Though difficult in this polarized era, consensus doesn't mean that everyone will agree, but that everyone can live with the decisions that are made. Consensus-building creates a place where everyone has a voice and everyone knows they have been heard.
"Good steward of taxpayer's money" - As a self-employed singer, I understood taxes and the need to budget wisely. As a Pastor, the churches I led always knew we were going to have a balanced budget and would use the people's money as God intended. None of the churches I led went into debt.
"Balancing act" - Probably the most difficult part for any leader, knowing how to address the needs of everyone without making anyone feel left out or left behind.
"A Representative represents." Representatives are not demi-gods or dictators. The Representative must always have one foot in their district while working in Topeka.
"Transparency" - Representatives should always be willing to address issues with their constituents, explain their votes and even seek out the opinion of their voters on key issues. This is a representative government.
"Accountability" - The Representative must always be accountable to the people.
I love my fellow human being and I am committed to making their lives better. My conviction - I will bend, but I will not break when it comes to freedom and justice for all.
The House, which is the People's House, must always be listening to and taking care of the people. They cannot be concerned with profit margins for campaign donors at the expense of their constituents. The people's pocketbooks are just as important as the corporate pocketbooks.
In our current political state of conflict there needs to be a return to consensus building.
Inividual freedom for women and all minorities, including the right to vote
Education
Medicaid Expansion/Healthcare
I knew the Karr family growing up. Senator Karr's youngest brother was my best friend in high school. I visited their farm many times. I appreciated his legacy of working with both city and country.
The last funeral I did for a military veteran who killed himself after suffering from PTSD continues to expose the need to address mental illness. Suicide is affecting all walks of life - teenagers who have been bullied, Veterans, Farmers.
2. To legalize marijuana, if not completely, at least for medicinal purposes. The majority of Kansans are in favor of legalizing marijuana. We know from othe states, marijuana is a cash crop that will create a whole new tax base.
Health and Human Services - I believe Medicaid Expansion should be passed, because the mental and physical health of our people should be important to all of us.
I expect full transparency about how tax payers' money is being spent.
Government has a responsibility to use the people's money wisely and efficiently.

|- Though I am a person of faith and Pastor who cherishes life, I am fully behind a woman's autonomy. Thus I am pro-choice.
- I am running because it's TIME to change the political atmosphere in Topeka.
- It's TIME for Taxes that are fair and just, Individual rights that are guaranteed for all, Medicaid expansion through high quality affordable healthcare and Education, Environment and Economy as a 3 cord rope leading us into the future where all can grow and prosper, while taking care of this land that was made for you and me.
