Our district deserves a genuine community and taxpayer advocate. We cannot solve our immediate problems - gridlock, unaffordable housing, homelessness - or the existential climate crisis if our representatives are bought and paid for by the special interests who profit from these problems. As a native San Diegan, parent, small-business owner, and advocate for good government, I'm running because our communities deserve a representative who is smart, effective, and - most importantly - unbought. Our campaign is 100% community-powered, with no contributions from corporations, PACs, or fossil-fuel companies.

Born and raised in La Jolla, I've always appreciated our coastal environment. I grew up surfing our beaches, exploring our canyons, and attending our public schools. Today I live in Pacific Beach with my wife, Sarah, a national expert on public education, and our children, Avi and Sasha.

Since 2004, I've worked with nonprofits and NGOs, designing and implementing systems to help them manage their programs and measure their impact. For the past 3 years, I've been deeply involved in policy advocacy at the state and local levels.

I'm committed to (1) finding local solutions to local problems; (2) protecting our coast & open spaces; (3) securing full & fair funding for public schools; (4) eliminating vacation rentals in residential neighborhoods; (5) protecting ratepayers from utility company abuses; and (6) implementing comprehensive climate solutions.
  • Environment & Economy: To sustain our economy and ensure a livable future for our kids, we must phase out fossil fuels and direct investment toward smart infrastructure - micro-grids, rooftop solar w/ battery storage, regional transit systems, etc.
  • Homelessness & Housing: From a lack of affordable housing to lack of mental health service providers, California needs to spend our resources strategically and demand accountability from all actors - incl. local governments, private insurers, etc.
  • Education: From preschool to higher education, we need greater investment and accountability in California's public education system to ensure that all residents have access to high-quality, affordable education and can thrive in the modern economy.
As someone who has worked on a variety of economic, social, and environmental issues for the past 20 years, I am deeply concerned about the world our children are going to inherit. The challenges we face as a society - from income inequality to the climate crisis - are immense and they are interrelated.

To improve public education outcomes, we need to reduce the conditions of poverty that children are born into.

To reduce fossil fuel consumption, we need an economic development strategy that creates good-paying jobs improving the energy efficiency of our buildings and smart investments in transit infrastructure.

To reduce congestion, we need new housing development to be concentrated in the urban core.

To reduce poverty, we need to stop profiteering by pharmaceutical companies that force low-income families to choose between life-saving medication and rent.

To improve our state's fiscal outlook, we need the oil & gas companies to pay the multiple billions required to cap their abandoned wells.

To sustain a vibrant workforce, we need to increase access to affordable training and technical programs, and ensure that people have access to affordable he

Ultimately, I am passionate about working to achieve a society that is just, sustainable, and prosperous - for ourselves and for future generations. With your support, we can move beyond ineffective, short-term thinking, and usher in an era of effective, responsive, and transparent government.
