| As a local leader, he prioritizes public safety, accountability, and transparency and brings common sense and honesty into the legislative branch of government. He also focuses on creating long-term economic development and housing solutions for residents of Indianapolis that result in a better quality of life for all.
Michael knows we can't wait for the government to answer the challenges in the community. That is why he develops leadership opportunities to improve the communities and set an example of what a better and brighter community represents.- The State of Indiana needs to put children and their education first. Indiana needs to create an educational environment where teachers are not teaching students to pass a test but teach practical use of the curriculum. Parents have the right to know what’s being taught in their children’s classrooms, and Parents, not the government, should decide what educational opportunity is best for their kids. As for increases in education funding, it should be targeted to where it belongs- teacher pay.
- We must improve the criminal justice system that provides a more customized approach to reform those suffering from mental health or substance abuse. Those suffering from mental health issues or substance abuse should not share the same facility as criminal offenders. Furthermore, we cannot allow our justice system to let violent offenders roam the streets of peaceful everyday Hoosiers. For far too long, prosecutors and judges alike have been too lenient on repeat offenders that cause problems in our society; we must hold them accountable for their actions.
- The role of the representative is to be an amplifier for the District, which the representative represents. Public policy must be transparent, and public officials must be held accountable. We must not forget government works for the people and is accountable to the community. Councilor Hart has a long-standing record of working directly and creating community initiatives that directly impact the lives of his constituents.
