Michael A. Flowers

Michael A. Flowers was a judge for the First Circuit Court for Okaloosa County, Florida. He was elected to this position on November 2, 2010 to replace retired Judge Frank L. Bell. Flowers took office on January 3, 2011.[1][2][3][4]
Flowers was up for re-election in 2016. No other candidates filed for the primary race, which was to be held on August 30, 2016. The unopposed election was canceled, and Flowers was automatically re-elected to a six-year term ending in January 2023. He resigned from the court on April 14, 2022 in order to return to private practice.[5]
Biography
Flowers received his B.S. degree from Florida State University in 1981 and his J.D. degree from the Cumberland School of Law in 1985.[6]
Prior to his election to the circuit court in 2010, Flowers practiced law in Okaloosa County for 25 years.[2]

2016
Florida's 20 circuit courts all had seats up for election in 2016. Of the 151 seats up for election, 125 saw only one candidate file for the election. The unopposed races were canceled and the sole candidates were automatically elected. Of the 26 opposed races, only 10 saw more than two candidates file. [7]
