Biography

Michael Ackerman was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He earned a bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University in 1999 and a graduate degree from Norwich University in 2009. Ackerman's professional experience includes working as a juvenile court counselor. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1988 to 1994.[1]

I was born and raised in SC. I am a veteran of both the United States Naval Reserve and the United States Marine Corps. I have a BS in History-Secondary Education from Appalachian State University, and an MA in Justice Administration from Norwich University. I taught on the Navajo Reservation (AZ) for 2 years. I was a certified Law Enforcement Officer in AZ and SC for a total of 14 years combined. I am currently a Juvenile Court Counselor with the NC Department of Public Safety in Watauga County. I am married to my beautiful wife Leslie, and I have my beautiful daughter Sara who is 13.

I am a fighter. I am not afraid to say what needs to be said, even if it makes some people uncomfortable. I have no aspirations to be a career politician, so I will not be open to influence from special interests groups that do not align with my beliefs and what I have promised my constituents.
