Michael Allen is a former Democratic member of the California State Assembly, representing District 7 from 2010 to 2012. He served as Assistant Majority Floor Leader. Allen is the former president of the North Bay Labor Council. He also served as director for the California State Senate's 7th legislative district from 2007 to 2010.

Biography

Allen earned a B.A., B.S., R.N. and J.D. His professional experience includes working as a psychiatric nurse at Sonoma County Crisis Clinic, attorney for the Sierra Club Legal Defense Team and the Sonoma County Organization of Public Employees and Executive Director of the Service Employees International Union Local 707.

Allen ran for re-election in the 2012 election for California State Assembly District 10. Due to redistricting following the 2010 census, he was displaced from District 7. He advanced past the June 5, 2012 blanket primary, defeating Alex Easton-Brown (D), H. Christian Gunderson (D), Connie Wong (D), Peter Mancus (R), and Joe Boswell (I). Allen was defeated by Marc Levine (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2][3][4]

Allen's defeated opponents Lee Pierce and Michael Wilson in the June 8 primary. He then defeated Republican Doris Gentry and Libertarian Kathryn N. Moore in the November 2 general election.[5][6]
