Hello, my name is Michael Allen, and I am running for US House of Representatives District 18. District 18 has been held by long time incumbent Sheila Jackson Lee, yet very little has changed in the district and many areas are arguably in decline. This March, we can change that and make history. District 18 is an extremely diverse district that is 4% Asian, 14% White, 37% African American, and 42% Latino. With a district this diverse, leadership that understands the complexity of diversity is needed. I believe that I am that leader. I have over 17 years of leadership experience in both profit and non-profit sectors. I spent 12 years as a pastor and 7 years as a consultant, COO, and CEO. I have led teams with diverse backgrounds towards common objectives and goals. That is the type of leadership that we need now. District 18 is being faced with the issues of aggressive gentrification and lack of representation. I believe with the right leadership we can overcome these issues and give citizens of D18 hope again, as what we are calling the "second chance citizen". The second chance citizen has the opportunity to engage in the civic process again and build the district the way we want through schools, communities, and commerce.
  • We want to address the systemic and complex issues of gentrification through bills and policies that deliver results for D18.
  • We want to engage citizen in the civic process again, buitlding better communties, schools, and busineses.
  • Enaging and activating what we are calling the "second chance citizen" is vital to see growth and development in D18. We want to measure our actions against results so that the citizens of D18 can see the type of progress that they want.
I want to spend my time focusing on policies that directly impact and affect the community. Housing, Small Business, Education, Taxes, and Transportation policies are the most relevant to my district. Addressing these areas will the citizens of D18 opportunity to measure public policies against results.
