Michael Aloi is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia. He assumed his position on October 1, 2015. His current term will expire on September 30, 2023.[1]
Education
Aloi received his undergraduate degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1980 and his J.D. from the West Virginia University College of Law in 1983.[2]
Career
From 2011 to 2015, Aloi was a judge for the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit.[3] He was appointed to the court on July 15, 2011, by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin to replace retired Judge Fred L. Fox, II.[4] He moved on to the position of magistrate judge for the Northern District of West Virginia on October 1, 2015.[1]
Prior to his appointment to the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit, Aloi was a partner at his firm of Manchin & Aloi, Attorneys at Law in Fairmont, West Virginia.[2]
2012 election
Aloi won the Democratic primary, receiving 52% of the vote. He was elected to the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit on November 6, 2012.[5]
