Michael Alonso (Republican Party) was a member of the Bayonne School District school board At-large in New Jersey. Alonso assumed office on January 10, 2017.

General election
Elections for the New Jersey General Assembly took place in 2017. All 80 seats were up for election. State assembly members are elected to two-year terms. The general election took place on November 7, 2017. A primary election took place on June 6, 2017. The filing deadline for the primary election was April 3, 2017.[1] Legislative districts in the New Jersey General Assembly are multi-member districts, with two representatives in each district. In Democratic and Republican primary elections, the top two candidates move forward to the general election, and the top two candidates in the general election are declared the winners.[2] Incumbent Angela McKnight (D) and incumbent Nicholas Chiaravalloti (D) defeated Michael Alonso (R) and Lauren DiGiaro (R) in the New Jersey General Assembly District 31 general election.[3][4]

Incumbent Angela McKnight and incumbent Nicholas Chiaravalloti defeated Kristen Zadroga-Hart and Christopher Munoz in the New Jersey General Assembly District 31 Democratic primary election.[5][6]

Three of the nine seats on the Bayonne School District school board in New Jersey were up for at-large general election on November 7, 2017. Incumbent Christopher Munoz, and former candidates Michael Alonso and Maria Valado defeated seven candidates, including incumbent Mikel Lawandy, to win the at-large seats. Newcomers Daniel Acosta, Anthony D'Amico, Dorothy Patterson, and Gene Perry and former candidates John Cupo and Sharma Montgomery were defeated in their election bids.[8]

Alonso did not report campaign contributions or expenditures in this election as of October 17, 2017, according to the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission.[9]

Four of the nine seats on the Bayonne school board were up for general election on November 8, 2016. The ballot included three seats with three-year terms and one seat with a two-year term.[10] Charles Ryan defeated John Cupo and Maria Valado for the seat with the two-year term. Incumbents Carol Cruden, Mary Jane Desmond, and Denis Wilbeck won re-election to the seats with three-year terms by defeating challengers Michael Alonso, Gina Irizarry, Leonard Kantor, Sharma Montgomery, George Vinc Jr., and John Sebik.[11]

Funding
Alonso reported no contributions or expenditures to the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission during the election.[12]
2013
Alonso ran in the 2013 election for New Jersey General Assembly District 31. Alonso was bracketed with Tony Zanowic and defeated by Gerard Pizzillo and Juanita Lopez in the June 4 Republican primary. The general election took place on November 5, 2013.[13]
2011
Alonso was a candidate for District 31 of the New Jersey General Assembly. He was defeated in the November 8 general election. Alonso and Daniel Beckelman ran unopposed in the Republican Primary on June 7. Incumbents Charles Mainor and Jason O'Donnell ran unopposed in the Democratic primary.[14]
