Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Starr's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Leadership: I’m not a politician and I’ve never run for office before now. I feel called to run because our country, and Congress, needs courage and proven conservative leadership. I’ve already had a career in the United States military. I’m not running for Congress to build a career, I am running to make a difference.
  • National Security: Because of the recent attacks on U.S. soil by radical Islamic jihadists, I am committed, more than ever, to using my military background to defeat terrorism. I’ve been a United States Air Force combat pilot since 1998. I flew as my squadron commander’s wingman when we dropped some of the first bombs on Afghanistan after 9/11 in Operation Enduring Freedom.
  • Border Security: You cannot have a secure nation without a secure border. This is more important than ever, especially after the terrorist attacks in San Bernardino. When it comes to border security, the Obama Administration has failed. We need conservative leaders with the knowledge and backbone to get the job done.
  • Agriculture: Since I announced for Congress, I’ve spent time meeting with farmers and ranchers across the district, and they are just like everyone else. They just want a fair deal and they are not getting one from the federal government. Agriculture is the backbone of our West Texas economy, and it’s also a national security issue.
  • Pro Life & Pro Family Values: I am a pro-life conservative, and I believe it’s the family that makes this country great, not the federal government. As your Congressman, I will always defend life and the pro-family values we all share.
