Michael Bustamante
Michael D. Bustamante was a judge on the New Mexico Court of Appeals. He was appointed to this position by Democratic Governor Bruce King in December 1994, elected in 1996, and retained in 2002 and 2010. His last term was set to expire in 2018.[1]
Bustamante announced his retirement in August 2016. He retired on October 31, 2016.[2] He was succeeded by Stephen French.
Education
Bustamante graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1971 with a degree in economics and American studies. He received his J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1974.[1]
Career
Bustamante began his legal career working with the law firm Ortega and Snead, P.A. In 1990, he went into solo practice. He worked in this capacity until his appointment to the court of appeals in 1994.[1]
Elections
2010
Bustamante was retained on November 2, 2010 by 70.4% of voters.[3]
