Michael C. Martinez was a district court judge for the 50th District Court in Michigan.[1] He was appointed to the court by former Governor Jennifer Granholm on March 19, 2004, and was elected to a full term in November 2004.[2] On November 4, 2014, Martinez was re-elected unopposed for another six-year term commencing on January 1, 2015, and expiring on December 31, 2020.[3]

Education

Martinez received an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a J.D. degree from the Wayne State University Law School.[2]

Career

Before his appointment to the bench, Martinez spent seven years as a deputy city attorney for the City of Pontiac, Michigan. He previously practiced law privately and worked as a staff attorney for the Legal Aid Society of New York's criminal defense division.[2]
