Michael Carbone
Michael Carbone (Republican Party) is a member of the Arizona House of Representatives, representing District 25. He assumed office on January 9, 2023. His current term ends on January 11, 2027.
House Republicans elected Carbone state House majority leader, effective January 13, 2025.[1]
Carbone was born in Antioch, Illinois, in 1973. He received a B.A. in graphic design and advertising from Columbia College-Chicago in 1998 and an M.P.A. in public administration from Grand Canyon University in 2016. Carbone worked in finance, construction, and real estate.[2][3][4]
Carbone was elected to the state House in 2022. He was one of two representatives elected, the two of which defeated incumbent Joel John in the Republican primary. In Arizona, two representatives are elected to each House district. Incumbent Tim Dunn (R) and Carbone were each elected to House District 25 in the general election.
The Arizona Daily Independent wrote during the election that Joel John was the most liberal Republican in the state House. Carbone said he took issue with what he said were John's too liberal positions "from illegal immigration to education, to school choice, to taxes and spending, congressional term limits, and more."[5] Carbone said, "Every one of us needs to fight to make sure Arizona remains the same conservative state that my wife and I moved our family for."[5]
Heading into the 2025 legislative session, Carbone said, "Public safety is non-negotiable. Whether securing our southern border, fighting fentanyl, or ensuring law enforcement has the resources they need, we will take action to protect every Arizona community."[6] He said lowering taxes was also a priority, including a removal of taxes on tips.[6]

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
