Michael Champley
Michael Champley is a former member of the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission, the state body charged with regulating the state's utility companies. He served in this role from 2011 until 2016. He was succeeded by Thomas Gorak.[1]
Biography
Prior to moving to Hawaii, Champley was a senior executive with DTE Energy. He served in various roles include Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Senior Vice President of Power Supply. Prior to his appointment to the HPUC, Champley was a senior energy consultant focused on clean energy resource integration in Hawaii.[2]

Champley was appointed as an interim member of the commission by Gov. Neil Abercrombie (D) on September 15, 2011. Abercrombie did not initially send the nomination to the state Senate, leading to rumors that he might replace Champley based on his energy views. However, in early February 2012, it was announced he would seek Champley's confirmation.[3]
