The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was July 10, 2014. Michael Conroy was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbent Kenneth LaValle was unopposed in the Republican primary. LaValle also ran on the Conservative Party and Independence Party of New York State tickets. LaValle defeated Conroy in the general election.[5][6][7]
