Campaign themes

2016

Donald's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Balanced Budget –

If there’s one item on the agenda that must absolutely happen over the next session, and following sessions in Colorado, it’s maintaining the budget and keeping Colorado’s financial status in balance. Cutting costs where applicable, and eliminating as much waste as is possible would obviously be the first steps, but another step I believe must be taken is holding those who spend Colorado’s money accountable for their spending. Without accountability, the money is unwisely spent on unnecessary projects.

Obviously, the people of Colorado cannot randomly demand an increase in their pay to cover overwhelming cost increases, and the state of Colorado must be held to the same accountability standards as the people. We must manage our money better at the state level to alleviate the cost to the citizens of this great state.

Secure Communities –

Without exception, one of the greatest issues confronting our communities in Colorado is first responder services. With incredible influx of people relocating into the state, comes additional requirements on communities to identify and resolve any emergency issues that may be involved and assist in finding immediate and adequate solutions. Supporting security and emergency service departments is a good example of one method to provide for the security of our communities, as is proper training and adequately providing for first responders and any other security personnel provided by the state.

Along with this, communication within the community, special training for any public servants, and opportunities for law abiding citizens to gain training to operate within a crisis situation needs to be discussed.

Business & Job Development –

Cutting or limiting government constraints and regulations on businesses, and job development would dramatically increase the commerce in our communities. As your representative, it will be my duty to pursue your best interests and cut the overreach of government regulations, preventing businesses to operate freely and profitably within the state. I am personally dedicated to improving job opportunities and business growth in this state.

Providing the best opportunities for families and workers in this state should be a top priority for representatives at the state level, and I will work hard to represent my constituents in this area.

Low Cost & Affordable Education –

A good solid education is important for every student in the state of Colorado, and I will pursue every avenue toward improvement of the educational opportunity within the state. I understand the high-cost of education, and the dire financial situation that a young family can be placed in, when education costs exceed potential income for the degrees received. The importance of getting a good education at affordable costs is another issue that must be confronted.

As much as it is important to have this conversation at the state level, it is even more important to return the controls of such education to local school boards and parents of the students. Opening the door for more freedom of education at the state level is important.[2]
