A better economic climate. While our state's economic situation has gotten somewhat better since the depths of the recession, too many people are still struggling to get by, and Massachusetts still scores too low on measures of competitiveness. We need more opportunities for better-paying jobs, and to be allowed to keep more of what we earn. We can begin working toward those goals by:
A better education system: Our education system is ranked highly compared with other states, but top-down efforts like Common Core and PARCC will propel us downwards in a hurry. We should also remember that the goal of public education is to shape productive citizens of a free society, not subjects of a distant bureaucracy.
