Michael E. Powell (Republican Party) is a judge of the Ohio Twelfth District Court of Appeals. He assumed office on October 4, 2012. His current term ends on February 9, 2029.
Powell (Republican Party) ran for re-election for judge of the Ohio Twelfth District Court of Appeals. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Powell was appointed by Republican Governor John Kasich (R) on October 4, 2012, to succeed the late Rachel Hutzel.[1] He was elected to a full six-year term on November 8, 2016.
Biography
Education
Powell received his B.A. from Ohio Northern University and his J.D. from Ohio Northern University College of Law.[2]
Career
Powell is a former attorney in private practice, village solicitor, and law director. He worked as an assistant and chief assistant prosecutor for Warren County for 21 years prior to his first judicial appointment in 2000. That year, he joined the Warren County Court of Common Pleas, where he served in the Probate/Juvenile Division until his appointment to the court of appeals in 2012.[1]
