Mike has lived in NH for almost his whole life. He is blessed to run to serve his community and the “Live free or die” state.

Mike grew up in Milford and attended Milford schools– MASH class of ‘86. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire and earned a graduate degree from Boston University.

Mike was a founding member of a local high school and served as a civics teacher for over 25 years. Mike enjoyed sharing his passion for our founding documents with his students. He has always tried to model the philosophy that democracy is not a “spectator sport” and that all citizens are responsible for working to keep our democracy strong.

His commitment to the youth in the community propelled him to serve as a basketball coach, winning back-to-back championships and having the honor of winning the 2003 Division 2 Coach of the Year. Mike has also served as a volunteer coach for many of his children’s sports teams.

Mike’s passion for serving the community is in his DNA. His parents Moe and Mariette Facques were both dedicated to making a difference in the Milford/Amherst community. His mother started and worked tirelessly for the SHARE program which helped the community’s underserved population. Mike’s father taught U.S. History for over 30 years in Milford and served as a two-time Milford Spartans boys basketball championship coach winning titles in 1972 and 1975.

Mike is tremendously proud of his children’s continued commitment to service-Will, Sloan, Delaney, Sam
  • Education

As a civics teacher in a NH public high school for over 25 years and a father of four kids who have attended public schools, I can speak with authority on this topic.

-Recognizing the crucial role of parents in their child’s education, I advocate for empowering them to choose the educational path that they believe will best serve their child’s needs and aspirations. -I pledge to return schools to a focus on high standards. -I will work to make sure schools are teaching students HOW to think and not WHAT to think. -I guarantee to work to give students the opportunity to explore their passion and interest after high school whatever that might be from college to the trades.

-I will focus on common sense state-wide policies.
  • Economy -Remove burdensome regulations on NH businesses to unleash the free market and support innovation for entrepreneurs. -Vote against any tax increases for NH individuals, families, or businesses. -Vote against any efforts to impose an income or sales tax. -Fight for a balanced budget to keep spending and taxes low.
  • Election Integrity -Fight to make sure NH has the fundamental right to free and fair elections. -Make sure only NH citizens can vote in Granite State elections.
Immigration-- allowing for only legal immigrants to be in NH, Education, reducing the size and scope of government, allowing businesses and entrepreneurs to florish without burdensome regulations
My parents-Mo and Mariette- for putting service above 'self.
Books or videos about my hero RFK Sr. to show his willingess to challenge Americans and fight relentlessly for justice and the underdog.
I believe a representative first and foremost has to work for the good of his constituents and put their interests above his own. It is a responsibility of a representative to both listen to and seek out feedback from constituents to be educated on important issues.
“People over party’ is what will drive me as a representative. Putting my constituents above the needs of a party, special interest group or a business.
I have a track record of bringing people together both as a teacher and two-time NH boys basketball coach. I have developed the ability to have empathy for folks’ experiences.
Besides what I mentioned on the question about the most important principles, a crucial job of a representative is to show up and be at all meeting. Democracy is NOT a spectator sport. I am blessed with running my own business and am able to set my schedue to attend every session and committee meeting.
A person who made a difference and put the needs of my constituents above my own.
I was a “bagger” at Jackson’s Star Market in the summer when I was 14. It was a fun experience that I had for a summer and later promoted to the big time– the deli.
Organization... thank God for smart phones.
The Governor and the Legislature need to understand that they are co-equal branches of government and it is essential that they work together. Democracy is often called the art of compromise. It is important both branches remember they share the same goal: to serve the people.
Providing quality education in a technology changing world. Cutting government and taxes to return to the role of NH and US founders envisioned.
Not necessarily. I think there is a strong benefit to have legislators of different backgrounds. As a legislator, I will seek out veteran mentors to help guide me through the process.
Of course. Establishing a strong working relationship is essential in order to work to find common ground to make decisions for the good of the majority of citizens.
My mentor Bob Clegg, who unfortunately passed away just about a year ago. Bob taught me not to take political differences personally, allowing you to work with any representative regardless of party. At Bob’s funeral, there were many folks from all sides there to honor him. I would hope for the same at my funeral.
No, my job will be to do what is best for my constituents right now not with an eye on how decisions will impact my next step politically.
Sadly, I have heard many folks talk about how they distrust politicians who seem to only work for a party. I hope to restore their faith in our democracy.

I have also heard heart breaking stories from many people, especially seniors and single moms on the tremendous impact inflation is having on their lives. It breaks my heart!
The Legislature should both check itself and the governor not to expand government power that goes beyond the scope of the Constitution. Sadly, that was NOT followed during covid.
It’s a tie. Re-introduce a modified HB 396- vetoed by Governor Sununu- dealing with the ability for distinguishing by biological sex. It allows for common sense policies by schools and organizations to distinguish for gender.
The second bill would be a revised bill to fix the law erroneously overturned by a NH Court preventing NH schools teaching racist policies like white privilege.
I am proud that I have received donations from so many NH citizens showing their faith and trust in me.
Education, Election Law, Children and Family Law
Both are paramount in a democracy. Transparency is vital for trust and government needs to understand it works for the people and needs to be in the customer service business.
As an over 25 year civics teacher, I am torn on this issue. My passion for direct engagement and say by citizens supports a ballot initiative type process. While I also have seen, in practice, that the ballot questions are often written in confusing lawyer language making it hard for the voter to understand. At this time, I think the current NH referendum policy is the best one.
