Michael Fedele (born March 30, 1955 in Minturno, Italy) is an Italian-American Republican politician and the former Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut. Fedele, who was sworn in on January 3, 2007, was the 87th Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut. In that role, he also served as President of the Connecticut State Senate.

Biography

Fedele graduated from Fairfield University in 1980 and Norwalk State Technical College. Fedele is a native of Minturno, Italy.

He founded and operated the Pinnacle Group, an IT firm in Connecticut.

Political career

Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut (2007-2011)

Fedele was the Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut from 2007 until 2011. In his capacity as lieutenant governor, Fedele served as President of the Connecticut State Senate.

Fedele ran for Governor of Connecticut in the 2010 gubernatorial election rather than seek a second term as lt. governor. Mary Jodi Rell, who was the incumbent at the time, said that she would support him over other Republicans, should he run.[1] He was, however, unsuccessful in his bid for the GOP nomination.

State House (1992-2002)

Fedele represented Stamford's 147th District in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1992 until 2002. He ran unsuccessfully for the Connecticut Senate that year, losing narrowly to Democrat Andrew J. McDonald.

Elections

2010

Fedele ran unsuccessfully for Governor of Connecticut in 2010, losing in the Republican primary.

2006

Fedele was elected Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut.

2002

Fedele ran unsuccessfully for the Connecticut Senate in 2002, losing narrowly to Democrat Andrew J. McDonald.
