The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 2, 2014. Michael "Mike" Fenster was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while District 21 incumbent Craig W. Johnson was unopposed in the Republican primary. Johnson defeated Fenster in the general election.[2][3][4][5]
