Campaign themes
2016
Fischer's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ |
Growth/Efficiency of Government: Michael is a solid conservative who knows the government that governs least is the government that governs best. As our State Representative, he will evaluate proposed expenditures and determine if they constitute a need or a want. Michael will fight to fully fund our critical needs and work to trim the fat from our state budget. Jobs/Economic Development: Cabarrus County needs more good jobs and a more positive business climate. As our strong legislative voice, Michael will work closely with existing small business owners to remove barriers to job creation such as high taxes and excessive regulation. In addition, he will fight to help recruit new businesses and industries to Cabarrus County by promoting our well-educated workforce and high quality of life. Education: Michael knows the best economic development tool for a prosperous future is a world-class quality education system. As a former public school teacher, he believes we must take decision-making authority away from bureaucrats and put it back in the hands of parents. Even more important, Michael is committed to getting education funds out of the bureaucracy and into the classroom. By empowering families and restoring local control, he will ensure our children have the opportunity to receive the education they deserve and reach their God-given potential. Taxes and Spending: To ensure North Carolina stays on the right track, Michael will take a lead role in pushing for more tax reform, lower taxes, and an end to wasteful spending. We can count on Michael to have a seat at the table when decisions are made that affect the economic well being of the people of Cabarrus County. Healthcare: As an attorney experienced in healthcare and business law, Michael understands that we must reform our state Medicaid system, modernize healthcare delivery, and support healthcare providers to ensure citizens receive quality, affordable healthcare. He believes there are many positive steps that can be taken at the state level to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse. Michael is also committed to reforming Medicaid, so patients are better served and help prevent the bankrupting of our state.[2] |
