Proportional Representation: Unlike the Senate, where each state has equal representation regardless of population, the House of Representatives is apportioned based on population.
Members of the House of Representatives serve two-year terms, compared to the six-year terms of Senators. This shorter term length is intended to make representatives more responsive to the changing needs and preferences of their constituents and promotes more frequent turnover in the chamber.
The House also has 435 voting members, the House of Representatives is much larger than the Senate, which has 100 members. This larger membership allows for greater representation of the American people.
Healthcare Access: Access to affordable and quality healthcare remains a pressing issue for millions of Americans. The United States must work to expand access to healthcare coverage, address rising healthcare costs, and improve health outcomes for all individuals and communities.
Racial Injustice: Systemic racism and social inequities continue to plague American society, perpetuating disparities in areas such as education, criminal justice, and economic opportunity. Addressing racial injustice will require comprehensive reforms to dismantle discriminatory systems and promote equity and justice for all.
Political Polarization: Political polarization has reached alarming levels, undermining democratic institutions and hindering progress on critical issues. Bridging the partisan divide and fostering constructive dialogue and cooperation will be essential to addressing the nation's most pressing challenges effectively.
Technological Disruption: Rapid advancements in technology, such as automation and artificial intelligence, present both opportunities and challenges for the economy and society. The United States must navigate these changes thoughtfully, ensuring that technological innovation benefits all segments of the population and does not exacerbate existing inequalities.
House Committee on Education and Labor: Education is a cornerstone of societal progress, and labor issues are integral to ensuring fair and equitable workplaces. As someone passionate about education and economic opportunity, serving on this committee would enable me to advocate for policies that promote access to quality education and support workers' rights.
House Committee on Homeland Security and Intelligence: With national security and border issues at the forefront of public discourse, serving on this committee would allow me to contribute to discussions on border security, counterterrorism, emergency preparedness, and reform, all of which are vital to safeguarding our nation and its citizens.
House Committee on Veterans' Affairs: As a strong advocate for veteran and first responder rights, serving on this committee would provide me with an opportunity to champion policies that support our veterans, ensure they receive the care and benefits they deserve, and address issues such as veteran homelessness and mental health.
House Committee on Small Business: Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and essential drivers of innovation and job creation. Serving on this committee would allow me to support policies that foster entrepreneurship, provide resources and assistance to small businesses, and promote economic growth at the local and national levels.
