Campaign themes
2015
In a biographical submission to Ballotpedia, Grace detailed the following campaign themes:
“ |
Jobs Economic growth is stagnant and the younger generations are leaving the district. I believe that rural small businesses carry far too much of the tax burden while large corporations are not paying their fair share. Therefore, I am proposing a 50 percent tax cut for rural small businesses. This would incentivize businesses to come into the district and give an infusion of capital directly into the local economy. In addition, there needs to be a rural enterprise zone to attract new business and consumers into the district. Further, I would propose a cooperative between our small and family farms with New Jersey's giant pharmaceutical industry. Fiscal Honesty I believe it is time the representatives of this district have an honest conversation about the fiscal health of our state and an honest conversation about where and how their tax dollars are spent. Constant updates and dialog with the constituents of the district by email and frequent town-hall meetings will be a regular routine as your representative. In addition, I believe that participatory budgeting should be an integral part of our democratic process. Citizen should have a direct hand in allocating a portion of each county's budget. Education/Property Tax Relief The way our education system is funded is a failed and broken system. Education is not just a community and single family home problem. It is a county, district and state issue. When elected, I will propose that public education be funded by an Education Trust Fund. This fund will not be allowed to be used as part of the General Fund, now or by any governor or Legislature in the future. This fund would allow for more than a 50 percent reduction in property taxes and leave municipalities with the monies they need for their citizens and communities.[2] |

Elections
2015
Elections for the New Jersey General Assembly took place in 2015. A primary election was held on June 2, 2015. The general election took place on November 3, 2015. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 30, 2015.[3] Since the general assembly uses multi-member districts, the top two candidates from each party in the primaries advanced to the general election. Michael Grace and Jacqueline Stapel were bracketed together and were unopposed in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Parker Space and Gail Phoebus were bracketed together and faced Nathan Orr and Marie Bilik in the Republican primary. Space and Phoebus defeated Grace, Stapel and Kenneth Collins (G) in the general election.[4][5][6][7]
