Michael H. Melkonian

Michael H. Melkonian is an acting justice of the New York Supreme Court 3rd Judicial District. He was appointed to this position in 2008. Currently, he serves on the Supreme Courts of Sullivan County and Ulster County, New York.[1][2] He has also served as a judge of the New York Court of Claims since 2008. [3]

Melkonian received his J.D. degree from St. John's University Law School.[3]
Career
Melkonian began his career in 1992 as Counsel to New York State Senator Serphin Maltese. In 1995, he left this position to work as an Assistant Attorney General. He then worked from 1997 to 1999 as Assistant Counsel to the New York State Office of Mental Health. From 1999 to 2007, he worked as Assistant Counsel to the NY Senate Majority. He then worked as a Commissioner with the state's Legislative Bill Drafting Commission until his judicial career began in 2008. He also served as a Judge Advocate with the U.S. Army Reserve from 1999 to 2006. He then served in the Army National Guard of New York in 2006 and 2007.
Melkonian's judicial career began in 2008, when he was appointed a judge of the New York Court of Claims and an acting justice of the Rensselaer County Supreme Court. He now serves on the Supreme Courts of Sullivan County and Ulster County.[3]
