Michael Hayles, Sr.
Michael Hayles, Sr., D.Min. was a 2014 Democratic candidate for District 16 of the Texas House of Representatives.[1]
Biography
Hayles earned his A.S. in business administration from Alabama Christian College, A.A.S. in Multimedia from the Art Institute of Houston, B.S. in business administration from Southern University at New Orleans, M.S. in Information Systems from the University of Phoenix, and Master of Biblical Studies and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Friends International Christian University. His professional experience includes working as the CEO of Coat of Many Colors Ministries and in human resources. Hayles served in the 2nd Armored Division of the United States Army.[2]

Elections
2014
Elections for all 150 seats in the Texas House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on March 4, 2014. Those candidates who did not receive 50 percent or more of the vote in their party primary on March 4 faced an additional May 27 primary runoff. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in these elections was December 9, 2013. Michael Hayles, Sr. was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Will Metcalf and Ted Seago defeated Duane Ham, Gary Louie, Jason Millsaps and Steve Simonsen in the Republican primary. Metcalf defeated Seago in the May 27 Republican primary. Metcalf defeated Hayles and Bob Townsend (L) in the general election.[1][5][6] Millsaps suspended his campaign before the Republican primary and endorsed Seago; he remained on the ballot.[7]

Hayles and his wife, Judy, have two children and one grandchild. Hayles has been involved with several boards, including the Montgomery County Food Bank, Montgomery County Child Protective Services, Kiwanis Club of Conroe Friendly City, Mighty Men of Valor and the N.H. Davis Museum.[2]
