Michael IsBell was a 2016 Independent American candidate for Utah Attorney General. He was defeated by Sean D. Reyes (R) in the general election.[1][2]

Isbell is a private practice attorney. He earned an undergraduate degree in computer science and mathematics from Brigham Young University and a juris doctor from Lewis & Clark, Northwestern School of Law. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a member of the military police and later as a special forces airborne infantry officer. He has also worked as a public school teacher in California, which included founding and directing a charter school.

Isbell and his wife, Emily, have five children.[3]
