Michael J. Malone was a judge for the Seventh Judicial District of the district courts in Kansas. He was appointed to the court by former Governor John Carlin in 1982 and was retained on November 6, 2012, for a term that was set to expire on December 31, 2016.[1] Malone retired from the court as a full-time judge on August 31, 2014. The following day, he became a senior judge assigned to the Kansas Supreme Court to serve as conflicts arise.[2][3]

Education

Malone earned his undergraduate degree from Kansas State University and his J.D. degree from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1973.[4][2]

Career

Malone was appointed to the Seventh Judicial District in 1982. Before his appointment, he worked as an attorney in private practice. He also served as a district attorney for Douglas County from 1978 to 1982.[4]

Elections

2012

Malone stood for retention to the Seventh Judicial District on November 6, 2012.[5] He was successful in his bid for retention, earning 83.2% of the vote with 31,635 yes votes.[1]
