Michael J. Roemer is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of New York. He was first appointed to the court on December 18, 2015, and his current eight-year term will expire on December 18, 2031.[1][2][2][3]

Education

Roemer earned his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and his J.D., graduating magna cum laude, from Cornell Law School. While at Cornell he served as senior editor of the Cornell Law Review.[1]

Professional career

Roemer spent 17 years as a confidential law clerk for the Honorable Richard Arcara. His other professional experiences include being an associate at Jones, Day, Reavis and Pogue and six years as clerk of the court and chief administrative officer for the United States District Court for the Western District of New York.[1]

Military service

Roemer served as a captain in the Third Combat Engineer Battalion and was a member of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.[1]

Judicial career

Western District of New York

Roemer was appointed to the United States District Court for the Western District of New York to be a federal magistrate judge on August 19, 2015. His eight-year term expired on August 18, 2023.[1]
