Michael Streit was an associate justice of the Iowa Supreme Court. He was appointed by Governor Tom Vilsack in 2001 and his current term expired on December 31, 2010.[1]
2010 election

Streit stood for retention in 2010.[2] He was not retained, with 54.43% of the vote going to "No".[3]
Education
Streit received his B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1972 and his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1975.[4]
Professional career
After law school, Streit went into private practice until 1983. During this period, he also represented Lucas County as assistant attorney, then attorney. He was appointed a district court judge in 1983. Next, he was appointed to the Iowa Court of Appeals in 1996. He the served in that capacity until he joined the Iowa Supreme Court.[1]
