2016

Johnson's campaign website listed the following themes for 2016:

There are so many different moving parts when it comes to education. Everyone knows about the students, teachers and parents. Most people forget about the bus drivers, administrative staff and maintenance, when it comes to educating our children it really does take a village.

I know that in order to have an education system that works smoothly and properly so our children can graduate and become the leaders of tomorrow, we need leaders that are willing to go down to the bus yards and talk to the drivers. They need to be willing to pick up a mop and make sure that the floors are clean. With my background, I have been that guy cleaning the toilets and mopping the floors, I know what it is like to be overlooked. I’ve been that guy who was the first to get there and the last to leave after being on my feet for 18 hours.

Every person who is a part of the system is also a part of the solutions to the issues that plague our schools. We have to understand that what we are seeing on paper and from the outside isn’t always the whole story and sometimes we need to go to the people who talk to and mold our children day in and day out.

We need to understand that we do have issues in our schools and there isn’t a one size fits all solution. Just as every child is different, every single school has their unique personality. One thing that I will always make sure happens is that if anyone who works with our children sees something that isn’t working, or thinks of something that can be improved, that person will be able to get a hold of me.
