Campaign themes

2014

Joseph's website highlighted the following campaign themes:

Job Creation and Workforce Expansion

It is the job of a State Representative to serve their district in the assistance of bringing sustainable business into the community. As a state representative I will constantly promote those businesses that come into our community and exhaust every effort to reach out and employ our residents. Expansion of the workforce and creating new jobs is necessary and vital to our way of life in District 107. I will form comprehensive plans, with community input, to expand jobs, creating more opportunities and revenue.

Furthermore, small and minority businesses should have the same access as their larger counterparts. I will push for legislation that will eliminate state government red tape holding back small and minority businesses from growth and prosperity. I will also push our state government to develop a “working” walk-through program that will assist entrepreneurs in becoming successful.

Crime Prevention

The actions of all residents in District 107 are extremely important to preventing crime, and law enforcement agencies can offer the help community members need to make a difference. Preventing crime involves not only making sure that our homes are secure and that we take precautions to be safe, it also means working with law enforcement to look out for the safety of our neighbors.

I will fight to ensure that police and prosecutors have the tools and resources they need to prevent crime in the first instance and to keep criminals off our streets. I also believe that decreasing crime and making our communities safer requires a return to the value that we must all take responsibility for our families and our neighborhoods.

Education

Each year our children emerge from their school years into a world that is increasingly competitive and complex. To help them succeed, we must remain firmly committed to the guiding principles that have led to so much improvement in our schools over the past decade: high standards, accountability, and rewarding good teaching. In the Legislature, I will safeguard these educational reforms and work to ensure that each of Florida’s children has access to a world-class education.

Environmental Protection

Environmental resources are one of our most precious commodities. Replenishing and restoring them is next to impossible once they have been damaged or depleted. As a good steward, and with the assistance of the community, it will be one of my highest priorities to work hard to protect our environment from harmful misuse and degradation.

Transportation

Everyone has a concern for our current transportation issues. As the population increases and more of our children become adults, the roads are becoming filled to capacity. As your state representative I will push the state legislator to invest in appropriate, sensible transportation systems for our region and make this a top priority for state government.[1][2]
