Michael Knapik (b. February 11, 1963) is a former Republican member of the Massachusetts State Senate, representing the Second Hampden and Hampshire district from 1995 to 2013. He formally resigned on August 9, 2013 to take a position as Executive Director of University Advancement at Westfield State University.[1]

Knapik served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1991 to 1994. His other political experience includes serving as the third assistant minority floor leader in the Senate from 1997 to 2002, and serving on the Westfield School Committee and Republican City Committee.

Biography

Knapik earned his bachelor's degree in political science from the College of the Holy Cross in 1985. His professional experience includes working as a legislative aide for Massachusetts House Minority Leader Steven Pierce[2]

Knapik won re-election in the 2012 election for Massachusetts State Senate Second Hampden and Hampshire District. Knapik was unopposed in the September 6 Republican primary and was unopposed in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[3][4]

2008

On November 4, 2008, Knapik won re-election for the Senate election for the Second Hampdan and Hampshire district.[5] In this election he raised $114,995; of that total $110,595 (96.2%) was from in state contributions and $4,400 (3.8%) was from out of state contributions.[6]
