Biography

Leipold was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Army from 1993 to 2015. He earned a bachelor's degree from Liberty University in 2013 and a master's degree from Liberty University in 2018. He also attended Grand Canyon University. His career experience includes working as an EMS pilot. He has also worked in addiction counseling.

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a dedicated servant leader with over 28 years of public service. I served in the Armed Forces for 22 years and continue that service as an EMS pilot transporting the critically injured and ill across the Great State of Ohio. I am running to bring about change, term limits, reduction of big government, protection for the most innocent of life, equality and the protection of constitutional liberties and rights.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

I admire Booker T. Washington, Jim Thorpe, Ronald Reagan, Susan B. Anthony and Anne Frank. I admire these individuals because of what they represent and how they overcame great adversity to influence the world. Anne Frank's courage, Booker T. Washington's ability to reform and unify, Jim Thorpe's adaptability, Ronald Reagan's charisma, and Susan B. Anthony's commitment to equality are why I value and admire each so much.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Integrity and the desire to represent the citizens that elected them. Once you sell out to the lobbyists, your effectiveness as a political leader are compromised

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

Servant Leader that leads by example, placing the needs of others above my own. Empathetic to the issues of others and always willing to offer or find assistance for those in need.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

I remember watching as the Space Shuttle Exploded while in school. I was 11 at the time

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

My first real job was in the U.S. Army. I served for 22 years as an AH-64D Longbow Maintenance Test Pilot and as an M1A1 Tank Commander.

What is your favorite book? Why?

The Bible, as it has been the biggest influence in my life.

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

Failure, I am somewhat of a perfectionist

Do you believe that it’s beneficial for senators to have previous experience in government or politics?

I believe it to be beneficial for senators, and all elected officials, to have leadership experience and success in positions of great responsibility.

What do you think of the filibuster?

Filibusters are a useful tool that delays legislation and allows more time to contemplate. Additionally, the filibuster can always be stopped with a supermajority vote and that allows a more equal balance of power within.

Is there a particular senator, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

I would model myself after Henry Clay or Perhaps Lindsey Graham. I share some common tendencies of both and don't rely upon popularity to make the right call.
