What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
Increase funding for education Improve performance for all students/Close achievement gap Support our teachers so they can afford to live near where they work
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Early childhood education is my passion because I think it is the most important part of a child's educational development. When children have access to quality pre-school, they enter kindergarten with a much higher chance of reading and writing at grade level, which continues throughout their education until high school graduation. I support California Bill AB 1754 that expands access to preschool based on family income levels.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
I sold hot dogs from a cart at an amusement part when I was 14. It only lasted for one summer. After that I was a bus boy in a restaurant at age 15, and I did that all through high school.
What is your favorite thing in your home or apartment? Why?
My children. They are the most important thing to me anywhere, and I am trying to make this world a better place for them.
What is the primary job of a school board member in your view?
I think it's the job of the school board to hold the district accountable on behalf of the community. This includes both financially and in terms of the educational performance of our students. The district has an obligation to deliver the best possible educational outcome to all of our students, and at the same time behave responsibly with their funds and plan for the future accordingly.

The candidate completed Ballotpedia's biographical information submission form:
“ | What is your political philosophy?
I'm running to continue serving our community and to ensure that all students have the best opportunities to prepare themselves for lifelong success. I'm the father of two children who attend Reed Elementary. My wife and I are proud to be raising our family here in San Jose. I've worked at Apple for the past 12 years and have a track record of success as a decision maker and creative problem solver. I want to improve the educational performance of all of our students, close the achievement gap, and make sure our district remains in good financial standing. Is there anything you would like to add? In addition to serving on the Library and Early Education Commission, I have also volunteered as an adult literacy tutor, and as a flag football and Tee Ball coach with Branham Hills Little League.[2] |
