Michael Morrissey (b. August 2, 1954) was a Democratic member of the Massachusetts State Senate. He represented Norfolk and Plymouth district from 1992 to 2011.

Morrissey was a representative with the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1976-1992. He also has served on the Quincy Democratic City Committee.

Morrissey has professional experience as an attorney.

Morrissey earned his Bachelor's degree in 1976 from University of Massachusetts-Amherst and his MPA from Western New England College in 1981. In 1985, he earned his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School.[1]

Michael Morrissey is involved in a number of organizations, including the Cerebral Palsy of South Shore, Gull Point Yacht Club, North Quincy Knights of Columbus, Quincy Elks, and the Squantum Yacht Club.

Michael Morrissey served on the Commonwealth Water Supply Commission from 1979 to 1982 and presently serves on the Senate Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure and the Senate Committee on Telecommunication, Utilities and Energy.

Elections

2008

On November 4, 2008, Morrissey won re-election for the Senate election for the Norfolk and Plymouth district.[2] In this election he raised $247,808-; of that total $212,709 (92.7%) was from in state contributions and $16,775 (7.3%) was from out of state contributions.[3]
