A petition began circulation to recall Mayor Michael Murphy on July 15, 2009 in Grants Pass, Oregon. As of September 2, 2009 the recall effort has been suspended.

Residents began circulation of the petition because residents' concern over the mayor's actions relating to the city charter. The mayor has been accused of refusing to accept the rules of the city charter, most notably keeping city manager David Frasher in office despite the city council's vote to terminate him. Two thirds of the nine elected officials in the city are now facing recall campaigns, including the council president, Bill Kangas.[2][3]
