Michael O'Foghludha (Democratic Party) is a judge for District 16B Seat 2 of the North Carolina 1st Superior Court Division. He assumed office on January 1, 2024. His current term ends on December 31, 2026.
O'Foghludha (Democratic Party) ran for re-election for the Judicial District 14B judge of the North Carolina 1st Superior Court Division. He won in the general election on November 6, 2018.
The North Carolina Superior Courts are split into five divisions and 48 districts. Superior court judges rotate among the districts within their division every six months.[1] However, superior court judges are elected by voters in their district and must reside in the district in which they are elected.[2]
Education
O'Foghludha received his undergraduate degree in history from Duke University in 1978 and his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1982.[3]
Career
Before his election to the court, O'Foghludha was a managing partner at the firm of Pulley, Watson, King, & Lischer, P.A. in Durham, North Carolina.[3]

O'Foghludha was elected in a six-way race. He received 23.58% of the vote.[4] Though judicial candidates do not run with party affiliation, he was endorsed by the North Carolina Democratic Party.[5]
