Michael Owen Miller was a judge on the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division Two. He was appointed to the court by Republican Governor Jan Brewer on December 18, 2012, to fill a vacancy left by the retirement of Judge J. William Brammer, Jr.[1]

Judge Miller was required to stand for retention by voters in 2016 in order to serve a full term on the court. He was retained for a full six-year term that began in January 2017. He retired from the bench in 2017.

Education

Miller received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in 1973 and completed doctoral studies at the University of Michigan in 1980. He attended the University of Arizona College of Law to participate in its new law-psychology program and earned his J.D. in 1984.[2]

Career

Miller began his legal career as a law clerk for Judge Robert Corcoran, Arizona Court of Appeals. After his clerkship, he entered private practice as an attorney with the law firm of Lewis & Roca. In 1998, Miller joined the law firm of Miller Smith LLP. He worked as a solo practitioner from 2000 to 2001, and then joined the law firm of Quarles & Brady. Miller was appointed to the Pima County Superior Court in 2002. He served on the Pima County Superior Court until his appointment to the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division Two, in 2012.[2][1]
