Michael Orenstein
Michael L. Orenstein was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He was appointed to this position in 1991.[1] He retired on September 01, 2005.[2]
Biography and Education
Judge Orenstein graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. degree in 1961. After serving in the Army in 1961 and 1962, he received his J.D. degree from the New York University Law School in 1965.[1]
Career
Judge Orenstein began his career in 1966, working as a law assistant and secretary for the Nassau County Court through 1973. He became the Principal Law Clerk on the Nassau County Supreme Court in 1974. In 1983, he returned to the Nassau County Court as the Chief Clerk. He was promoted to Chief Clerk of the Nassau County Supreme Court in 1985. He worked in this position until his appointment to the U.S. District Court in 1991.[1]
