As a paramedic for 38 years and a firefighter and EMS provider over a 40-year career, Mike Pacheco has been on the front lines as a healthcare provider and understands the real-world needs of our community. His experience and leadership led to him being called on to help in the wake of the September 11th World Trade Center attack and Hurricane Katrina aftermath in New Orleans.

Today, Mike Pacheco is a proud educator and community advocate. He serves as an appointed incumbent for Palomar Health and has brought a wealth of medical knowledge and experience in policy development to the Board. Under his leadership, Palomar Health was named by Newsweek as a World’s Best Hospital for the third year in a row. Mike’s priority is to be your voice at Palomar Health and represent the rural areas for the district. Mike is also dedicated to help expand health care career education in our schools. Mike also served two terms on the Valley Center Fire Board and the Valley Center Youth Soccer League.

With your support, Mike Pacheco will continue to utilize his experience as a first responder and dedication as a community leader to provide nationally recognized care to all patients in the San Diego region.
  • Representation for all and have your voice heard about your community’s health care needs.

  • Continue to expand vital and specialty services needs to everyone in the San Diego region.
  • Provide accessible behavioral health services to those in need and their families.
Palomar Health District is the largest publicly funded Health Care District in the State. My goal is continue to expand on vital and specialty services that are needed in our region. Palomar is providing these services here in your own neighborhood.

Caring for our own Doctors and Nurses is vital to ensure that your patient experience is a great one. Palomar will continue to be a progressive and top notch medical system with my leadership.

Behavioral health is a real issue in our lives today. Palomar is continuing to provide for those needs with the addition of a new outpatient behavioral health center. I recognize the need to continue to provide more services for our patients and families with regard to behavioral health. It is a top priority for me, personally, to help patients and their families navigate the behavioral health system. I want to help patients and families find the resources that they need and have them easily accessible.

I also have a passion for education. Having taught in the Community College District for 30 years, in the Emergency Medical Technician program at Miramar, I understand the need to help our kids discover medical careers. I would like to see more educational outreach into our middle schools and high schools and to help enlighten our kids about the different careers in medicine. Medical careers are stable and well-paying jobs. This industry can provide a stable and ever expanding opportunities for next generation of the workforce.
