Michael Schneider (Nevada)
Michael Schneider (b. April 11, 1950) is a former Democratic member of the Nevada State Senate, representing District 11 from 1997 to 2013.
Schneider served in the Nevada State Assembly from 1993 to 1995. He was Senate Minority Whip in 1997, Senate Assistant Minority Floor Leader in 1999 and Senate President Pro Tempore in 2009.
Biography
Schneider attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the Southern Nevada School of Real Estate. His professional experience includes working as a Real Estate Consultant in Development and Sales.

In 2012, Schneider was one of four senators and one representative to be the first senators and representatives term limited by Nevada's 1996 amendment. The 1996 amendment did not go into affect until canvassed by the Supreme Court on November 27, 1996, so legislators elected that year -- and sworn in on November 5, 1996 -- were not affected by the bill until their re-election in 2000.[1]

On November 4, 2008, Schneider won re-election to the Clark 11 District Seat in the Nevada State Senate, defeating opponents Stacy Gonzalez and Joe Locatelli.[2]

The Nevada Policy Research Institute, a Nevada-based conservative-libertarian think tank, releases a "Legislative Report Card" evaluating members of the Nevada State Legislature on "each lawmaker's voting record on legislation impacting the degree of economic freedom and education reform." Bills determined by the Institute to be of greater significance are weighted accordingly. According to the Institute, "a legislator with a score above 50 is considered to be an ally of economic liberty."[3]
