Since moving to the Kitsap Peninsula in 2012 with the Navy and making Bremerton my home in 2014, I've become deeply invested in our community. My work in real estate with Redfin has given me the opportunity to connect with many of you – from first-time buyers to local business owners. For the past four years, my involvement as Vice Chair of the Manette Neighborhood Coalition has further immersed me in the workings of our city, from our parks to our schools.
  • Permitting is causing our housing issue and is causing the city to lose local small business to other cities in the area. We need to modernize it and make it cheaper and more efficient.

We can use a modernized system like the one recently utilized by Kitsap County Permitting Office to not only file but also allow builders, business owners, and homeowners to track their permitting. I would also use a data analytics program so that we can track different types of permits and how long it is taking to process them. This would allow us to find roadblocks and inefficiencies that would streamline the permitting process and should eventually drive down permitting prices.

I would also like the city to adapt multiple per permitted ADUs.
  • Homelessness and lack of obtainable working class housing is record high in Bremerton. We need to work on multiple initiatives and grants to help make sure everyone gets shelter with dignity and safety. There is no one solution, instead we should have many different options to meet people with where they are at and what their needs and abilities are. I do not think we should house people with an active addiction disorder with people who are detoxed and sober. I think we can set up co-habitation units off major bus lines instead of creating an area of high homeless concentration that we currently have now. I look forward to having a county homelessness navigation center that also helps people who are close to experiencing homelessness.
  • The City has a ton of resources that most residents do not know are free for them to use, I would like to become a mouthpiece for these services so that more people use them. The city has long provided resources but as the city has grown, many residents, new and old, have not heard about these services and therefor don't use them. Reporting issues like graffiti and potholes using the Bremerton1 app, using free pool passes for the YMCA pool, facilities that can be rented out for parties and reunions, and a wood working shop that can help you learn wood working skills are all available to our residents and yet when I talk with people, they are always surprised about these services. Using a city social media campaign would greatly assist.
I am most passionate about Permitting, Housing (including the missing middle of housing), city services, and helping working families. My goal in running for city council is to help bring ideas of modernizing the city's systems to make it easier for the city to monitor it's programs and move quickly to correct any inefficiencies. Right now, when I talk to residents, they talk about a lack of transparency, a giant question mark when it comes to how long something with the city will take, lots of frustration with what seems like nebulous city employees not approving things, and an absolute defeat at any actions actually helping the homeless members of our community. Almost monthly we lose a member of the homeless community.
FDR is really an inspiration to me. He transformed how government works for people and how it can benefit the low and middle class. The boom of the 1950s is very much due to his policies.
Honesty, passion, hard work and a hope to provide a unique perspective and new ideas to the city council.
I want a better, more knit together city that works for it's residents and employees. An easier society to live in.
