Campaign themes (2016)

Smith has the following platform listed on his campaign website.[4]

I am the only candidate that will ALLOW VOTERS TO VOTE ON LAWS DIRECTLY. (See placeavote.com, or try the beta version.)

I have always been a politically minded person and found the topic enthralling. However, the level of corruption and deceit within the field of politics I found to be appalling. Why would I ever attach my vote to a so called representative that I knew would never do what they said they would do? So I decided to abstain myself entirely. Realize as voters we hold the key to power and should hold those we decide to elect, liable for their actions.

Watching my country fall impoverished and war stricken, I was reminded of something I read in Plato’s book The Republic at the age of twenty. “One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors”. I joined the Veterans’ Party of America in 2013 as the State Treasurer. Getting an up and coming party off the ground was challenging and at the same time rewarding, as I learned much on the the true power structure of both our national and state level political systems. From Treasurer I was later promoted to State Chair. As a Constitutionalist, I am proud of the work that our forefathers put into our great constitution. It is a study of 2,000 years of world governance rolled into one perfect document. The writers of the New World gave us the tool to keep moving our proud Republic forward. All the while warning us of the pitfalls within government when we do not keep it in check. [5]
