Campaign themes

2016

Stack's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]

  • Improve our economy and create new jobs around our district:

We need to grow our economy to succeed for everyone, and that success will come when everyone is working in good-paying jobs. Hardworking families struggle to put food on the table and pay their bills. We need to invest in the businesses in our local communities to get people back to work, and continue looking for new areas of innovative technologies to bring new business to our great state.

  • Give our students the means to afford a strong college or trade school education:

I’ve worked with the Walled Lake Consolidated School District for many years, and have a daughter who has gone through K-12 schooling as well as college. Watching her struggle with the cost of our education system, and talking to residents of my district who worry about sending their kids to a good college or university, has shown me that we need to do more at the Capitol to invest in education. Focusing our funding on the next generation and beyond will only lead to the success of Michigan in the future.

  • Make state government transparent and accountable to the people:

Recent events in Lansing have shown us that state government operates with too much secrecy. We need to pull back the curtain and make sure all Michiganders have a clear view of what’s going on with their elected officials and in state departments that should be working for us. An open government is an honest government, and I will make sure that as a legislator, I’m open and honest with you.[2]
