Michael Trickey
Michael Trickey was a judge on the Washington Court of Appeals, Division I. He was appointed by Governor Jay Inslee (D) on April 11, 2014, effective May 1, to succeed Kenneth Grosse.[1][2] Trickey retired on August 31, 2018.[3]
Trickey was elected by voters in November 2014 to serve out the remaining two years of Grosse's term, which expired in January 2017.[4][5] [6]
Judge Trickey was re-elected in 2016 to a full six-year term that began in January 2017.
Prior to serving on the court, Tricky was a public defender in King County.
Education
Trickey received his undergraduate degree from the University of California and his J.D. from the University of Washington. He was admitted to the bar in 1980.[7]
Career
Trickey is a former public defender in King County. He also spent fourteen years in private practice, with a focus on criminal defense. In 1996, he was appointed to the King County Superior Court by former Governor Mike Lowry on April 18, 1996. He served on that court until he was appointed to the Washington Court of Appeals in 2014.[1][8][9]
