Michael A. Usan is a Criminal Division judge on the 17th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He was appointed by former Governor Charlie Crist on January 12, 2010 to replace retired Judge Linda L. Vitale. He was elected in 2012 and his current term expires in January of 2019.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Usan received his B.A. degree from the University of Minnesota and his J.D. degree from Wake Forest University.[2][5]

Career

Usan served as a U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General for five years in the beginning of his career. He also worked briefly as a Broward County prosecutor before becoming a private practice lawyer in 1993. He worked as a criminal-defense attorney in Fort Lauderdale until his judicial appointment in 2010.[2]

2012 election

Usan was unopposed and automatically re-elected following the primary election on August 14, 2012.[6]
