From my time as Chief of Staff for Tammy Baldwin, to studying law at UW-Madison, I’ve called downtown home for decades. My neighbors have placed their confidence in me to be their voice in City Hall for many years. I’m proud to have played a role in the development of downtown to where it is today by leading the fight to renovate Central Library, spearheading the creation of several downtown parks, helping facilitate the creation of the Overture Center for the Arts, and championing the Madison LakeWay Project that will improve environmental sustainability. As your progressive Alder, I’ll continue fighting for more affordable housing, expanded bike and pedestrian infrastructure, and a city where everyone can live, work and thrive affordably.
  • Far too many in our community face difficulty securing safe and affordable housing. I’ve consistently been a strong supporter of robust funding of the City’s Affordable Housing Fund that assists in the creation of new affordable housing. I have, and will continue to, champion incentives for developers to dedicate significant amounts of affordable units in new developments for students and working families through density and height bonuses. I’ve made it easier for tenants to legally withhold a portion of their rent if their housing is not up to code and have expanded tenants’ rights. However, Madison must do much more to help people struggling in our community as these strategies have not produced enough units to meet the extreme need.
  • Combatting the existential threat of climate change and expanding sustainable transit options are consequential issues. Making sure that my neighbors can commute safely across the city is deeply important to me. I support expanding Metro Transit route frequency and longer service hours. I will also fight to expand the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system to include the north-south line and work to attract an Amtrak line to Madison. The voices of transit-dependent members of our community must be prioritized. I’ve advocated to add bike lanes, paths, and pedestrian improvements to improve the public health and safety of the community. We need to reduce CO2 pollution, increase renewable energy, and achieve net-zero carbon goals.
  • Public safety is the bedrock function of municipal government and all downtown residents and Madisonians deserve to be safe. Madison has long addressed public safety with a comprehensive approach beginning with prevention - from fire prevention to violence prevention. The Community Alternatives Response Emergency Services (CARES) program responds to non-violent, behavioral health emergency calls that do not require law enforcement and I believe It should be expanded to be available 24/7. I will continue to promote a community-oriented policing approach, take action against gun violence in all forms, and address the core issues at the root of violence.
I am passionate about policies that support downtown residents in living, working, and thriving in the heart of the city. Affordable housing is a top priority, ensuring that all residents, regardless of income, can remain downtown. Increasing the supply of rental and owner occupied housing in Madison to meet the increasing demand. I am deeply committed to addressing climate change through sustainable development, clean energy, and environmental justice initiatives, ensuring a healthier and more resilient future. Public transit is another area of focus, as I believe in expanding access to affordable, efficient transportation options to reduce traffic congestion, lower emissions, and make our city more connected and inclusive for everyone.
I will always look up to Senator Tammy Baldwin. From serving as her first Chief of Staff during her tenure in the State Legislature to where she is now, she will always be an inspirational leader to me. As a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community, she has broken barriers and paved the way for future openly LGBTQ+ candidates.

As a longtime member of the Madison Finance Committee, I take the responsibility of stewarding your tax dollars seriously. I will continue to advocate for a fair shared revenue agreement from the State Legislature, while also exploring efficiencies within City government. It’s crucial to identify opportunities for collaboration with other communities to save money and improve essential services. Operating transparently is key, and I am grateful that the residents of downtown have entrusted me with this responsibility. I will always work to strengthen these relationships and ensure our resources are used wisely.
